Hospice Massage Workshops

Professional therapeutic massage is a skill set that can teach the language of the senses, and break direct effects of fear and anxiety on the physical level of the body. No other time in life are these skills more valued than in hospice care, at the end of life.

Massage therapists may be drawn to healthcare, and they may again be called to compassionate work through provision of touch that nurtures those who may feel isolated, may be suffering. Hospice massage / comfort massage, is a specialized practice. It requires that therapists with massage certification understand hospice practices, a team approach, boundaries and self care; as well as adaptation of a variety of bodywork therapies to apply appropriately.

Hospice professionals are additionally the natural massage and bodywork therapists for the job. They come with years of education in nursing, social work, pastoral care... and with the additional training of a stress relieving bodywork therapy, the application of that in a hospice program has benefits too numerous to mention here.
